KID ORY - PORTRAIT OF THE GREATEST SLIDEMAN EVER BORN

KID ORY - PORTRAIT OF THE GREATEST SLIDEMAN EVER BORN

URCD187

When a small group was assembled to accompany Louis Armstrong in 1946, in an attempt to recapture Sachmo's early years in Storyville, the obvious choice on trombone was his old boss Kid Ory. Sachmos described Ory as the greatest slideman ever born - and this Portrait, with recordings from 1921, 1944 and 1971, demonstrates his skill and passion as well as his longevity! Artists on this recording include ‘PAPA’ MUTT CAREY – TR ‘KID’ ORY – TRBN DINK JOHNSON – CL FRED WASHINGTON – PNO ED GARLAND – BS BEN BORDERS – DRS VARIOUS – ZUTTY SINGLETON, WADE WHALEY.
